Ghost investigation club
The time was 7 AM. I had just woken up, and a pleasant smell tickled my nasal cavity.
When I entered the old-looking dining kitchen from my bedroom, T-6407J was in the middle of preparing my breakfast. "Good morning, master."
Using electrical signals, he can move the three flat tentacles hanging from his head armor at will. The appearance of him holding the chopsticks just like an octopus, skillfully making fried eggs, was indescribably adorable. Acquired by the Organization for the process of containing and researching Lost Property, an enormous level of knowledge and technology that is not for sale on any market... These kinds of sophistications are collected inside of these drones, so is it even okay to use them for this sort of thing? "My job is to support my master so they can focus on their task at hand." T-6407J doesn't ever seem to complain. I think this technology should be adjusted and sold for use by normal families.
I watched television while eating my breakfast. On the news, a very disturbing incident was being reported on. It was told that a man who had gone missing in ██ City, which is adjacent to Komagaoka City, was found dead as the result of non-natural causes. It seemed that the police were investigating it as a murder case. That reminded me of an item in Himonya's notebook that I saw earlier, which said "mutilation murder case". While she was supposed to focus on matters such as urban legends and ghosts, that line specifically felt strangely graphic and incidental. It may be a good idea to try to ask her about the details when I have the chance to.
Most accidents that happen in the world are unrelated to Lost Property. I wonder if the Organization has anything to do with the case that's being reported on now. I can only hope it doesn't.
There have been various changes to my environment at Seishō High School. Firstly, I ended up joining a club for like-minded people. It's called the "Ghost Investigation Club". This club, which has a name that's so straightforward it even seems graceful, was founded by Himonya as the initiator. Currently, there are two members. One of them is me. "Please, Nanashi-chan! According to the regulations, I need at least two people." I had no particular reason to decline when I was asked this by Himonya, who was holding the application in her hands, so I accepted. (She had at some point started appending "-chan" when calling my name) As this meant I could carry out my investigations into Lost Property using this as a cover, while still living a proper student life, everything was playing out to my advantage. Of course, however, I could not tell her these things.
According to the student council, a certain preparation room on the second floor of the old school building was left unused, and they said it would be okay for us to use it freely as a clubroom. However, there was a pitfall. The room in question appeared to have become a meeting place for delinquent students with outstandingly problematic behavior.
Dialogue: There is a room in the old school building which we can use as a clubroom, but it seems like it has become a meeting place for vulgar upperclassmen... Dialogue options: "Let's rush into it", "Let's consult a teacher", "Let's give up and go home".
Himonya held a passive attitude regarding acquiring the clubroom. Although she struck me as a type who was not afraid of anything, who went to haunted places and went to ask those involved for their stories, she turned pale and said: "I'm scared of delinquents!" However, since we did not have any other potential locations to use as a base of operations, I pushed past her unwillingness and headed towards the old school building. I didn't intend to do anything by force. If I did something like that, I would eventually be confronted with revenge, and if the school expelled me for injury, I would suffer a total loss. I have prepared a plan, so maybe I'll be able to manage somehow.
Waiting for us as we stepped into the room were, as rumored, vulgar upperclassmen. The boy with red hair sitting in the middle of the sofa opened his mouth: "Huh? What's up with y'all?"
Dialogue: What's up? Dialogue options: "We want to use this room", "We entered the wrong room...".
It seems that he holds the status of leader here. The other students were simply staring this way while grinning. Before I decided to open my mouth and explain the circumstances, Himonya yelled as hard as she could, her voice squeaking: "Here, I wanted to use this room here as a clubroom for my club for like-minded people, so I've come to ask you! I've also confirmed it with the student council. They said I could use it, and that there is only this one room left." She was shaking like a puppy while holding my shoulders, and I think she didn't want to make me bear the responsibility of being the first to start talking. "Huh? Club for like-minded people?" The boy with red hair squinted his eyes while looking uninterested. Of course, there was no way they would comply with our request. If they were the kind of students that would go "ah yes, of course" and hand over their space to a freshman that suddenly barges in, the school wouldn't view them as a problem either. After this, we ended up fighting the delinquents in order to obtain the clubroom...
(omission) *see appendix
The semi-panicking upperclassmen fled the room as if they were trying to escape. The noisy preparation room instantly fell silent, after which only me and Himonya were left. I could clearly hear the ticking noise of the clock. "Wh- what just happened?" Himonya quietly mumbled after being left dumbfounded for a bit. It seemed like she forgot about the delinquents, the club and the clubroom and all that, and she was completely captivated by what had just happened. "This... is the second floor, right? You saw it too, right, Nanashi-chan? Just now, outside of the window..." she said excitedly, pointing her shaking finger outside of the window. All that was visible there, were trees being covered by darkness. "She was floating, right? That bright red woman."
Appendix: A red-skinned woman was reportedly seen floating outside a window at the old school building of Seishō High School. It is said that she was waving her bright red hand at the witnesses. On top of that, right before the incident, there were reports of mysterious phenomena such as televisions and monitors suddenly turning on, and fluorescent lights flashing on and off by themselves. A group of upperclassmen who were using an empty room on the second floor and a clerk who was cleaning up trash outside testified to the same story, and the spirit became the talk of the whole school.
Note: This was a misunderstanding that occurred when undercover Organization employee (Student name: Nanashi) covered a T-6407J Torii-shaped drone with women's clothing and had it fly around the old school building in a way in which it was visible to the public, and using that same drone to control the electrical systems of the school. It is problematic that the Anti-Lost Property weapon was recklessly exposed to the public, and this requires strict attention.
